Ancient Chinese Legend: The Story Behind The Red Thread
The Red String of Fate, also known as the Red Thread of Fate, refers to an ancient Asian myth of love. "According to Chinese legend, the deity in charge of 'the red thread' is believed to be Yuè Xià Lǎorén (月下老人), often abbreviated to Yuè Lǎo (月老), the old lunar matchmaker god, who is in charge of marriages. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break."

Throughout history and across philosophies, the Red String has been worn for protection, faith, good luck, strength, and connection.
Though there may be multiple views about the ideals of what red thread represents, it's viewed as a powerful tool of good fortune across many cultures.

Chinese Astrology Intertwined with the Red Thread of Fate
According to Chinese astrology, people in their zodiac year are thought to offend Tai Sui, the God of Age, and incur his curse. It's believed to bring nothing but bad luck. Therefore, Chinese astrology followers pay special attention to their conduct every twelfth year of their lives, in their birth sign years. To ward off bad juju and bring luck your way, a surefire way is to wear an item of red! Wearing red especially during your zodiac year (or any zodiac year!) will bring you good luck and give you a good year. The colour red in Chinese culture symbolizes good luck, happiness, prosperity and the promise of a good year.
Now, I'm not highly superstitious, but as a point of tradition, one caveat I feel I should mention for a red item to increase luck potential; they say that you can't buy the red item for yourself. Rather, it should be bought by a spouse, a family member, or a friend. It isn't a bad idea to vocalize these wishes to loved ones every once in a while; so make it known to the powers who wish to please you, a gifted red accessory that bestows luck and good fortune makes for an awesome gift!
Nowadays, many use the red string of fate in a more modern way, pushing aside superstitions such as the ones listed above. It's can be a symbol of being loved, supported, or a means of protection to feel safe and secure. For others, it's a consistent reminder to embrace the positive while facing any challenges. Whichever way you use it, the main importance is that you set the intention for the purpose of your red string's ability to generate those good vibes.
Clear intentions and clear purpose begets clear results.

Pairing It with a Zodiac Animal as a Charm for Luck
We can wear our own zodiac animal year for a powerful reminder of evolved traits that harmonize our path in life, but you don't necessarily have to wear your own birth year sign!
Mix it up, and wear another sign as a charm to embrace other complimentary qualities and boost your potential. The combination of all 12 zodiac animals can bless one’s year with great fortune and protection, because altogether they represent balance and harmony. Here’s how to pick out a lucky zodiac charm to match your sign.
Established by Feng Shui masters, the compatibility of each sign is categorized by two grouping methods: The ‘six-harmony’ and ‘trine’ signs. They follow the theory of Five Elements and the concept of Yin and Yang to determine which zodiac animals complement each other the best.
Six-harmony compatible signs:
Rat & Ox
Tiger & Pig
Rabbit & Dog
Dragon & Rooster
Snake & Monkey
Horse & Goat
The most compatible matches in terms personality, values and temperament are within the six-harmony groups. The bonds between the pairs in these groups are strongest and is the ideal match to boost one’s luck all-around.
Or, you could opt for another animal within the “trine” group. A trine is a trio of signs that get along well with one another in areas of habits and interests, and can boost one’s luck and happiness in life.

3 Steps to Increasing Luck with a Chinese Zodiac Legends Red Bracelet.
Start by setting your intention. Words have the power to build or the power to destroy. By setting the intention for working with your red string bracelet you can positively manifest good luck and fortune for your most loving good, or for others.
Step 1: Identify your Why!
Take a moment and think about what you want this red string bracelet to do for you. Why do you want this string? Is it for protection? Love? Good luck? As a reminder of something?
In a notebook, write down the question: "Why do I want a red string bracelet?"
Allow whatever comes to mind to flow through you. Do not edit your words; write what comes. There's no right or wrong, it's a process of awareness for the greater good.
Step 2: Map out your Intention.
Using your why, what is your intention for this bracelet? Example: “My intention is that this bracelet helps me remember to believe in positive solutions to all circumstances” or “This bracelet helps me remember my connection to my loved ones,” or, simply “This bracelet brings me good luck, love, and fortune.”
Is it important to you that the bracelet be worn on a specific wrist? If so, which one and why? The left wrist is generally the side that is open to receiving, conversely right side is associated with giving. Perhaps you are deciding to gift a red string bracelet with a goat zodiac sign for your daughter who is born in year of the Pig. The goat is one of her trine signs that can offer supportive energies to increase her creativity, imagination and artistic side. If you are trying to encourage her to express her artistry, be sure to place the bracelet on the right wrist so she can share her gifts more easily with the world.
Step 3: Select the right red string bracelet for you <3
